U can use cheating recall for a bonus item avantage in the front of your enemy, do jungle tracking ( if he starts at the same side as your jungle most likely u will know when the enemy jungler is) , after u hard push the wave under tower u have 3 options ( 1. recall, 2. ward, 3. roam , think what is the best decision for that moment), always look at what gold u have and what good u need to complete an item , know your champion powerspike and abuse that, don't roam if u know enemy has vision on you. Do trades when u have minions avantage cuz the enemy will take more damage than you bcs of the minions. Try to punish your laner when he is going for a minion or canon.
