It's exactly how "FyP" works, It depends on people interests, how many people are online right away when you post it, cause after few hours instagram will say that they boosted enough your post and it will go down and few people will reach it. It's a weird algorithm but good at the same time.
And to say about why your followers dont actually see your posts is because it depends on how many people they follow, how many posts those person share per day/hour. It a long talk about this topic

It's normal for values to fluctuate, but you can keep a few things in mind:
1. Perhaps the content with the highest engagement has something in common with each other.
2. If you don't post content for a while, the platform's algorithm stops promoting you.
3. Content that had the most engagement can make more people identify with it than content that had fewer interactions. For example, one is for a more specific audience than the other.
