Zeca Pagodinho has always played samba, since before the nickname, originated from his participation in the Pagodinho Wing in the bohemian carnival block of Irajá. Pagoda, at the time, was any occasion when the amba was touched. The romantic samba of the 90s, a genre practiced by Exaltasamba, was called pagoda for a commercial matter – it was a way to distance it from the samba more rhythmic, associated, in the consumer's mind, with Carnival.
