Why don't animals have certain human feelings?

Most likely due to their brains being too small to properly express emotion/understand it, however if an animals brain gets bigger e.g a monkey or a human they will be able to deeper understand emotion and therefore express it.

I believe animals do feel and think to a degree. The difference is that we have a way of understanding through communcation what others feel or how to express to others how we feel. We just don't see the simple ways creatures express their "feelings."
Animals can even understand when we're sad, in pain or sick.

I think it has to do something with animal brains being smaller than human ones, also animals rely on instincts rather than emotion
