if you upgrade your cpu you will most likely change your motherboard because 4th gen uses a LGA1150 slot for motherboards. unless, you upgrade your 4th gen i3 into a 4th gen i7. not sure if it will make a difference in performance. but, if you have the budget to get a new cpu and motherboard...
