messages mean ur threads and comments in forum 1 thread & comment = 1 message
the message under ur profile picture, u can get it easy by helping ppl in forum and reply them with useful comments not spam like " ty , thanks , good etc etc"

Massages means in this forum like comments on someone's post. Like I'm doing to you now. It is counted as a massage.
