To those who say processor and gpu/video card I hope you are aware of the limited amount of laptops that can perform this type of upgrade.

The best upgrade you can do for an older laptop is to install a ssd if you are still using an hdd. If you are trying to game or even do moderate office use you should aim for a healthy amount of ram like 16gb. 8gb is ok for most applications but 16gb is a healthy amount. I hate to see miss information passed around especially if people are looking for honest and correct answers.
