At its core, League of Legends is a game about progressing your Champion's power through items and levels. The more items and levels you have, the stronger you'll become, allowing you to dominate fights. So, let's dive into Summoner's Rift, the main map where most games are played.
In League, players gravitate towards different lanes or the jungle to progress their Champion. Let's explore the types of champions you'll find in each lane:
- Mid: The most popular and important role. Play here if you enjoy playing mages, casters, or assassins.
- Top: Face opponents in a melee vs. melee matchup. Choose this lane if you're confident in your dueling skills.
- Bot: The lane for those who enjoy playing with a partner. Play as a marksman (ADC) with a support.
- Jungle: One of the most interesting and thought-provoking roles. You can be wherever you want on the map. Farm monsters, help lanes, and secure objectives.
Trading is a vital aspect of League. It refers to exchanging damage with your opponent. Many factors affect trading, such as your matchup, level, items, and spell sequences. Don't worry if it sounds overwhelming; practice and experience will help you master it.
Farming is the foundation of success in League. It involves killing minions and monsters to earn gold and experience. Remember, focusing on farming is more important than chasing kills. Farming is consistent and reliable, while kills can be risky and inconsistent. Aim to farm well to gain a significant advantage over your opponents.
Choosing the right items for your Champion is essential. Each Champion has specific scaling and damage types. Look for items that synergize with their abilities. In the beginning, it's best to stick to recommended item builds until you're more comfortable with the game. Avoid experimenting with unconventional builds to prevent a miserable experience.
With over 150 champions in League, choosing your main can be overwhelming. To ease your journey, we recommend two simple champions for each role:
- Mid: Annie and Lux
- Top: Garen and Malphite
- Bot: Ashe and Miss Fortune
- Support: Janna and Leona
- Jungle: Xin Zhao and Fiddlesticks
Once you've chosen your main champions, it's time to practice. Start with the Practice Tool, where you can familiarize yourself with each champion's abilities, combos, and spell costs. Experiment with different orders and find what works best for you. Additionally, learn the essential summoner spells and understand their functions.
The ultimate goal in League is to destroy the enemy Nexus. But how do you get there? By gradually taking down their towers and inhibiting their progress. Start with the outer turrets, then move to inner turrets and inhibitors. Focus on pushing your waves and creating opportunities to engage.
Apart from towers, three key objectives will help you secure victory:
- Rift Herald: Killing the Rift Herald spawns an eye that can be placed in a lane, summoning the Herald to push that lane and provide map pressure.
- Dragons: Elemental Dragons spawn every 5 minutes. Each dragon grants a permanent buff to your team when slain. Aim to control dragon spawns and secure these buffs to gain an advantage.
- Elder Dragon: The most powerful dragon. When slain, it provides a temporary buff that deals bonus damage and executes low-health enemies. Contest the Elder Dragon to turn the tides of battle.
To enhance your gameplay experience, consider enabling Champion names above health bars, showing spell costs, and learning common terminology. This will help you communicate better with your teammates and make informed decisions on the battlefield.
League of Legends may seem overwhelming at first, but with time, practice, and the knowledge gained from this guide, you'll be well on your way to becoming a skilled summoner. Remember, enjoy the journey, focus on improving, and always strive for victory!
Good luck on the Fields of Justice!
