What would be the best starting point without any specific goal in mind?
Or do I need to have a specific goal to get started efficiently?

I do know that I wont learn in one sitting and would probably take months to years to achieve "good" (my projection)

First, you have to set yourself a goal. After you set that goal, you have to work hard to achieve that goal. I know there's going to be a lot of difficulties in achieving the goal, but when you achieve the goal, it's worth it. You can start working by buying a course.
