That is a really hard choice for me since I loved both. but Ill try to give my opinion. First of all I have to say that I hate mecha animes but Code Geass is a exception, It was too good that I couldn`t stop watching it because it wasnt like robots fighting each other all the time we had our protagonist with his ocular power(OP) and alot of drama together.
Death Note has alot of drama involved aswell its about a guy that gets a book that can kill people then not talking more than that to not spoil you. So like if u don`t like mecha anime it will be hard at first to watch code geass but don`t give up it will get better through time. Death Note I don`t have too much to say about it its just awesome I watched all the episodes nonstop in a day.
so my answer is: Both of them.
