Interesting list, but idk why but for me I try staying away from old horror movies because if I get eye cancer from bad CGI, acting or ghost make up etc.

i think "The Exorcist" would be my pick. it's a classic for a reason - the tension builds up so well, and the special effects were groundbreaking for the time
