Chess training and practice supports the development of higher-order thinking skills like problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, planning and even creative thinking. So I learnt it

Yes, but I'm not a professional, I remember that the first time I played it was in a competition at school, I lost in 3 or 4 moves hahahaha... after that I started to delve a little deeper, but I only knew the basics, which is enough to have fun.
have you learned from internet or books?

Yes, I learned playing it by watching and trying to play in the Windows Chess Game.

Here are the basic rules of chess:

  1. The chessboard consists of 64 squares of alternating colors.
  2. Each player starts with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns.
  3. The goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, which means to put the king in a position where it is under attack and cannot escape capture.
  4. The pawns move forward one square at a time, but capture diagonally.
  5. The rooks move horizontally or vertically.
  6. The knights move in an L-shape (two squares in one direction and then one square in a perpendicular direction).
  7. The bishops move diagonally.
  8. The queen can move in any direction (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally).
  9. The king can move in any direction, but only one square at a time.
  10. A player can "castle" by moving the king two squares towards a rook on the player's first rank, then moving the rook to the square the king crossed.
It's a good idea to start by learning the moves of each piece and practicing basic checkmates with a friend or against a chess-playing program. As you become more comfortable with the game, you can start to learn more advanced strategies and tactics.
