Oh there is a big difference between them.
For example:
a decent HDD Baracuda 2TB - has a writing speed of 135mb/s
a decent SSD Samsung 2TB - has a writing speed of 400+mb/s
And ther are some SSD's for laptops with speeds up to 3000+mb/s
Nowadays there are HDDs that have a speed similar to the old SSDs but if we compare two current ones the difference lies in the speed with which they act when loading programs and files. The read and write speed is abysmal in an SSD. Think that ram memories are also disks but even faster and are not storage but temporary storage
SSD is a huge different compare to HDD. If you used HDD in every day tasks then working on SSD makes you wonder why you don't upgrade your PC earlier with HDD. I promise if you go SSD then you'll don't wan't to turn back to your old HDD.
yes, there is so much difference
A typical 7200 RPM HDD will deliver a read/write speed of 80-160MB/s. On the other hand, a typical SSD will deliver read/write speed of between 200 MB/s to 550 MB/s.
