Hey players! I'm Hana "TimTamMonster" Dinh, your product lead for Behavioral Systems. I wanted to share some exciting updates on how we're tackling player behavior issues in League and the positive impact we've seen so far.
New Strategies and Solutions: We've been actively listening to your feedback and conducting extensive research to improve our systems. Our recent changes and features address some of the biggest pain points you've experienced in-game.
Promising Results: The results have been promising! Players have reported significant positive differences in how others are behaving in their games. While we still have more work to do, these changes are a step in the right direction.
Noteworthy Improvements: Here are some notable changes we've introduced:
Automatic Muting: Our system now detects and prevents zero tolerance chat, muting the player and making the action visible to all players.
Enhanced Text Evaluation: We've fully integrated our game agnostic text evaluation service (GATES) machine learning models, enabling us to take action on over 15x more disruptive text than before.
Key Learnings: From these results, we've learned important lessons. We've reduced the time between offenses and player penalties, ensuring maximum reach to protect players from disruptive behavior.
Recent Features: We've also released some exciting features this year:
Party Chat: Communicate safely with your premade teammates, creating a more protected environment for coordination.
In-Game Reporting: Report disruptive behavior right when it happens, allowing us to take immediate action and improve behavior in real time.
Improved Existing Solutions: We've extended our credibility models across multiple report categories and added penalties for leaving/AFK behavior.
Upcoming Ranked Restrictions: In the next few months, we will be restricting Ranked play for players who have been punished for disruptive behavior, including intentional feeding, multiple AFKs, and severe chat abuse. This additional restriction aims to maintain a better environment for ranked matches.
Monitoring and Feedback: We understand concerns about disruptive players moving to other queues. We will closely monitor behavior in other queues to ensure there's no measurable increase in disruption.
End of Season Rewards: Please note that for this year's Ranked season, there won't be a separate reward for Honor at the end of the first split. End of Season rewards will be awarded near the end of the calendar year.
