Your post is quite confusing... How are almost out of space if all you had before was also 1TB ?
If you need more space, get more space. That is all there is to it. HDDs are slower but cheaper, SSDs are faster but more expensive, NVME SSDs are even faster but way more expensive.
I assume you have a free SATA slot, so here is what i suggest: Get a 2~4TB HDD and use it to dump all your media and other files that don't require a lot of performance. Use your SSD for games and softwares in general.
