I would reccomend playing support because there's a lot of mages that can stun, have an explosive damage, or other types that could be useful and great at the game, but I think jungle isn't bad

Honestly by playing in top you don't really affect the game the best role to solo carry would be jungle and mid, a quick research will confirm what i saidadc is the best lane when you use scripts but it's up to you if jg is fine for you. top also since you can carry the game by yourself.
if you are going to jg i recommend kindred.

you are able to easily take objectives with auto smite for example with kayn you can easily steal drag
