Definitely League. I tried Dota 2 for a little bit, and while it's not a bad game at all, I think that League has more champions, skins, variety, and better gameplay in general. There is also a lot more people who play League than Dota 2, which means queue times will be shorter and there will be more servers, so your ping isn't unplayable.

League of Legends is very structured and the strategy is sometimes seen as more straightforward. Both games have a similar goal: Destroy the Nexus (League) or Ancient (Dota). The difference is that Dota 2 has a lot more versatility and freeform opportunities when it comes to achieving this goal
