As a Canadian, European and American that has lived in Brazil for 18 years I can answer your question.
Brazilians are emotional people, their families are more important to them than anything else.
Business models in Brazil are based on personal connections, the emotional is much more important than the educational or financial.
Brazilians love, they know what love is and they consider love and family much more important over any business connection.
To close a business deal there will need to be a personal and individual connection, which is why many American and Chinese companies will never be successful in Brazil, because they focus on the financial first where in Brazil the focus is on the emotional before the financial.
Once an emotional connection is made then the financial becomes important, yet this is the single most reason why foreign companies can’t get a foothold in Brazil.
Families love each other and when times get rough they don’t retreat to their own bedrooms, they sit in the living room and hash it out, they solve the problem together.
Brazilians love to dance and they do so during Carnaval, it’s beautiful to see and participate in and they will welcome you to their culture if you welcome them.
That means that skin color is irrelevant.
Whether black of African descendants or super white Portuguese descendants, indigenous native descendants, Japanese, Italian or German immigrants, they all intermix and create families together.
And family is first.
That’s Brazil.
