Imho people aren't meant to be constantly happy, then what would be the point? Find things you enjoy, bring joy to other peoples lives (this is the best way to make yourself happy i think) and cherish your happy moments, work through your down moments. This is the cycle of life i think.

The true meaning of happiness means something different for every person. If i had to explain it for myself, I would say it's that feeling you get when you are doing something you truly enjoy. When time just drifts by and you lose yourself in the moment and none of your life problems seem to penetrate through. You feel sad when it's over and the night comes to an end, But you just look forward to next time. Whether that be something you do by yourself or something you are doing as a group with other people Just surround yourself with those kind of moments instead of materialistic things, and by the time you grow old and reflect on your life you won't be asking for the meaning of happiness but you would be glad you found it and have the fond memories to recall.

As you have said, the meaning is very subjective. For example, my happiness could be described in achieving my goals and seeing those around me achieve them too.
