I hate Windows 10 mainly because of
The solution is to disable 3 services, namely 'Update Orchestrator Service', 'Windows Update', 'Windows Update Medic Service'.
It works on v18363 but should also on higher versions.
Note: If your power settings say
Steps:
1) Go to regedit -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services -> UsoSvc
2) right click on UsoSvc
3) go to Permissions -> Advanced -> Change owner -> Advanced -> Find now -> Select Administrator (should be the 1st in the list) -> OK -> Disable inheritance (you may have to remove everything manually if it doesn't work) -> Remove all inherited permissions from this object -> Tick the box next to 'Replace all child object permissions...' -> Apply -> Yes -> OK
4) right click on WaaSMedicSvc and repeat
5) right click on wuauserv and repeat
If you now go to services.msc, there should be an error next to 'Update Orchestrator Service', 'Windows Update', 'Windows Update Medic Service'. If you open Windows Update, it won't load or show you an error.
If you restart, it should stop updating automatically (even if it says 'Update and restart' in the power settings).
If you want to turn the updates on again, simply go back to regedit and change the owner to everyone & enable inheritance.

After many frustrating attempts, I believe I have finally found a method to disable the automatic updates for good. it may remain that way, but the function will go back to just 'Shut down' or 'Restart' after applying this method.Steps:
