Haha yeah that happened to me once too, windows is pathetic. Personally I use an open-source firewall called simplewall from Henry++ to block internet access for windows update entirely. You can do that by installing it and disabling internet access for svchost.exe
This app also helps mitigate a few privacy issues with windows, it's helpful as windows has pretty much devolved into spyware since the release of windows 10

yes windows 10 update is irretable some time i disable update but this prosses auto start
i want to cancelling it tho, i got same problem

You can stop windows self updates by turning off delivery optimizations in settings.

i use a tool called winaero tweaker to stop annoying windows updates. you can give it a shot too

Yeah. If you're using simplewall you can just re-enable access for svchost.exe for a few seconds, grab the security update in the defender app and quickly disable it again. This will allow you to get security updates while also preventing windows updates.

U could deb update every once in a while ot modify some stuff in regedit which most of the time does not work so using simplewall like ingellectual mentioned may be the key
