I play both, although my time split between both games isn't equal (7k hours in Dota, about 800 hours in LOL).
Dota is the better designed game with an objectively better monetization. Higher competitive level too.
LOL has a broader appeal and easier to get in to.
But it really comes down to...
9pm to 3am. I love playing late at night, knowing most folks are asleep while I'm lost in my own little RPG world. Sadly, I just don't do it much as I'm too old to stay up very late gaming anymore, getting my body clock out of sync.
Depends what you play.
If you're the one fighting him, pick a lane dominant champ and all in him every time he burns counterstrike. If you're playing against him out of lane, do your best to keep him off your carries, or get rid of his team.
