For new update there we cannot stop the update. But you can use regedit to stop it

go to control panel - system and security - windows update and disable auto update ez pz

just go on services.. find win update and disable it

just disabled it from the services.msc by writing on the cmd

There's a way it worked for me, go to network and turn on metered network.
Other method is in search bar type "services" then search for windows update, then click stop. That's it.
