If you're looking for a companion that will sit by your side, then a dog might be your best bet. Cats can be quite affectionate and attentive, but only up to a point.

I have both, and it depends.
My cat, as almost every other cat, is chill and "independent", he just goes wherever he wants to, come to me as he pleases, stays in my lap for two hours, then goes to sleep alone in another room, doesn't complain about a single thing, doesn't require much to get happy.
My dog, in contrast, is very dramatic about everything, is loud when someone is approaching my house, keep following me wherever i go inside my house. I feel like he's more present and needy.

4me it’s definitely cats. dont need to walk them twice a day or clean up their poop.... they don’t disturb all the neighbors with incessant barking. but you should buy some bulldogs for protect youur fam if you are rich
