Can you guys recommend some good file recovery software? I need to recover some recently (accidentally) deleted documents (PDF and other book-format files) from my old Huawei.

I'm currently working on it. I've tried it with KingoRoot, but it's said 'root failed' so I'm gonna have to try it with something else. Any tips what software to use to root it from the PC?

Try Disk Digger.. Its small but very very very effective

Thanks, I tried that but you can only recover photos with it, not files.

Depends on what phone you got. To root you will need to factory reset, not worth. Use odin and get TWRP custom firmware. I dont recommend rooting in 2020
