SSDs are storage units, they send data back and forth (read & write) just like any storage device. The only difference with this technology is the radical change in the way it functions, allowing it to have tremendous speeds (450MB/s - 4500MB/s+) if compared to a classic HDD. A game will not benefit from such speeds in the FPS aspect, however, the game will benefit in loading up, rendering maps and textures quicker, and fast screen switches between scenes in general. Although i remember a YouTuber once experimenting on this, and he concluded that an SSD will give you about 2 extra FPS! is it worth it?
