They're both good. AP gives you better scaling on your W and other skills but AD/on-hit builds feel like it shreds tanks better.

It really depends on which lane you play in, and what composition your team is using. Mid gives you more flexibility to go AP, bot you would almost always need to get AD, unless your team is running AD mid & top. It's always good to have multiple damage sources, so adjust to what your team picks.
